About
"Building" is my mission.
Software engineer based in San Diego, CA, focused on backend and full-stack systems — the parts of an application that have to keep working when traffic spikes, inputs are malformed, or a third-party API goes down. I work mostly in JavaScript/TypeScript and Python.
I think depth-first. I care about why something works, how it breaks under load, and how to scale it for billions. That carries into the unglamorous parts of the job — input validation, failure handling, compliance, the edge case nobody filed a ticket for. Usually that's what separates a demo from something people can rely on.
I came to engineering by an indirect route. I ran an e-commerce business for three years — sourcing, inventory, fulfillment, and customer support — and closed it in 2023 to study computer science full-time at UCSD. Before that I spent a year tutoring Java, C++, and data structures, which is where I learned that if you can't explain it, you probably don't understand it yet.
Current Work
A multi-tenant communication platform that consolidates SMS and email into a single thread per contact for small businesses. The interesting problems have been architectural: a consent and revocation ledger that stays correct when opt-outs arrive through any channel, and token-bucket rate limiting to bound burst traffic and cap per-tenant API spend.
Full-stack analytics pipeline running in production on eemami.dev. Collects, validates, and anonymizes client-side events, with an event schema designed to absorb asynchronous bursts without dropping data and identifying fields stripped before persistence. It runs behind NGINX and is hosted locally on my old MacBook, which added extra fun while building. Backend is completely separate from the front-end, which is hosted on Cloudflare. A project management platform for developers, launching soon. DevBoard uses MCP to give SLMs and LLMs authorized, guided access to project context, helping teams manage the software development process more effectively.
